This monumental cloth artwork invites viewers into a profound exploration of the human body as a microcosm of the universe. The expansive piece, measuring 17 feet in height by 7 feet in width, is a visual manifestation of the artist’s belief in the body as a sacred temple.
Created using oil paints on natural earth and plant pigments, the artwork reflects the artist’s deep connection to nature and their reverence for the human form. By situating the creation along the Gala Oya River in Bibile, Sri Lanka, the artist emphasises the symbiotic relationship between the body and the natural world.
The creative’s artistic practice is rooted in the idea that the body is a complex network of interconnected systems, each contributing to the overall harmony and vitality of the individual. Temple is a visual representation of this intricate interplay, with colours and textures evoking the rhythms and movements of the body’s internal organs.
